About us
The creator and designer of the brand - Vicky, draws inspiration from her Greek heritage. The mesmerising colours and freedom of the Aegean Sea and the glorious glisten of the Greek Island sun. Vicky's love of old school artisan methods blossomed during her visits to little greek villages. A pivotal moment was during her visit to the village of Mani in Naxos, Greece; she was in awe of the women weavers using handlooms to create intricate and fabulously unique textiles, showcasing a skill passed down through generations.
The name of the brand is an ode to the village artisans, and also to the beautiful way greek villages are presented. The way they are adorned with intricate designs, colours, patterns and murals, and let's not forget - the magical accents of blooming bougainvilleas!
Vicky's love of handmade textiles and creating, lead her to start experimenting with her own techniques, and then advancing her skills in linocut and screen printing, at the Australian National University, School of Art.
Sustainability is important and we value renewal and re-use of textiles where possible. We often source material from op-shops to upcycle and bring back to life. We hand print fabric patches so that they can be used to mend and embellish an item of clothing or accessory, which helps transform and repurpose the piece, aligning to our sustainability values.
